Reimagining Education for the Information Age
What if school could be different?
The Wilder School is a community of learners driven to change the world. We value children for their innate genius - their curiosity, sense of justice, and drive for independence - in a learner-driven environment where they, through hands-on and innovative experiences, earn agency over their education to discover their unique ability to impact the world.
Our innovative approach to education is mastery-based and individually paced, the result of which is an environment where children exercise their curiosity and fall in love with learning. Aided by skilled guides who ask insightful questions, our learners are excited to come to a school where they think critically and apply their skills in collaborative, hands-on projects.
Where Children Flourish
Located in Winchester, MA, The Wilder School is an independent, private school. From our Montessori based program to the tech-enriched elementary studio, we are reimagining what a 21st Century Education can be.
Supported by the latest in technology and cognitive science, we move beyond the tools of traditional education by offering experiential projects, collaborative and multi-age classrooms, and differentiated learning plans.
An affiliate of Acton Academy, students K-5 are empowered and equipped, through real-world projects and experiences, to uncover the talents that will transform them into the leaders of tomorrow.
What makes The Wilder School different?
-
Learner-Led
The learner-driven approach inspires, equips, and connects young people who embrace a journey-mentality to make principled decisions towards a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
-
Experience-Driven
Children’s retention is greatest when they learn by doing. By combining the world’s leading learning methods - Montessori, Reggio Emelia, Waldorf, and more - children learn through hands-on experiences in order to try, reflect, adjust, and learn.
-
Character-Based
The very nature of our design facilitates the development of the social/emotional skills of self-control, self-advocacy, flexibility, and collaboration. In this way, each child begins to see the impact of their actions on the world around them.
-
Tools & Technology
Layering the latest technology with the best hands-on materials enables our self-paced, mastery learning environment designed to foster independence, responsibility, and goal-setting.
